YCLs and Adult Leaders, I need to practice a few things on Zoom before camp starts next week, so I am having an open zoom meeting Monday morning at 10am. If you have any questions about camp or want clarification of what will happen, (or want to practice anything for your classes YCLs), this is a great chance to come ask questions! This will be very informal, but any of you are welcome to come stop in to ask questions or just say "hi" or even just be a body so I can test out what I'm doing before we go live! Here is the zoom link. Thank you! Erin Presley 240-421-5774 Seneca Stake YW Camp Director

YCL Responsibilities and Camp Schedule

YCLs, Here is the schedule for next week. We are still doing some tweaking with classes as we talk to you ladies and find what times work (so some individual class times might change), but overall, the schedule is set.  Wednesday we will be starting whole group (at 10am), but will be breaking into your small groups to do some get to know you games after we finish with that (around 11am, I think). I will let you know who you will be working with soon, but you should start brainstorming some get to know you games that you can do over zoom. In addition to your class that you are helping with, you will also be leading your small group in scripture study time each afternoon. (again, I'll let you know who you are working with asap) You should begin thinking about what you want to do with that time. I would encourage you to look at the daily scriptures and conference talks (they are in the schedule) and use those as a baseline. Here is also a link to the journal if you want to use...

YCL class sign up and more

YCLs, Virtual Young Women's camp is less than three weeks away! I have taken all of the input from the Planning Survey, as well as ideas from the girls from registration, and put together a tentative schedule of classes . In order for us to have all of these classes, we need teachers! I would like each YCL to sign up to plan/teach one class.  (if you sign up for something you can't teach, you would be responsible for finding a teacher for that class) You may sign up with someone else if you want to teach together, but all of the classes need teachers, so please don't all sign up for the same classes.   Please sign up ASAP (anyone not signed up for a class by Friday will be assigned one) These classes will most likely be held over zoom, so keep that in mind as you plan what you want to do. After everyone has signed up, I will check in periodically with everyone to make sure they have a plan and have what they need for their class to be successful.  We will also ...

Meeting Follow Up and Planning Survey

Thank you to those who were able to make it to our YCL meeting on Sunday! I know it was last minute, and many of you are busy for the summer, so I appreciate those who were able to make it work! In order to get everyone's thoughts more easily with this digital planning format that we have to go with right now, I have made a Planning Survey that I would like all of you to fill out! Please do this ASAP!!! I don't know that we will have another meeting, so it is especially important that all of you respond to our digital communications! If you want to be added to my "remind app" list to help you know when new communications come out, let me know. Otherwise, please make sure to continue checking your email or the blog regularly, as well as responding when asked questions! We will need all hands on deck to make this virtual camp a success! Can't wait to hear your thoughts on the survey! Love, Sister Presley 240-421-5774 Seneca Stake YW Camp Dire...

Virtual Camp is a GO!!!

YCLs, Wow, it feels like it has been forever since we have seen each other! I miss seeing all of you and hope you are doing well. As of this last weekend, we are officially having a virtual camp! The dates for the camp will be August 19-21 , so put it on your calendar!  I am so excited about this! Even though we aren't allowed to meet in such a large group physically, virtual camp will allow us to meet over digital means. It would have made me so sad to go the whole summer without some kind of camp experience for you and the other girls in your ward, so I am very excited about the prospect of this.  What is virtual camp, you ask? Well... that depends a lot on you! What would you like virtual camp to look like? What skills can we teach over virtual means? How would we like to present spiritual messages? Can we do a virtual campfire? What would that look like? Should we deliver supplies (journals, pillow treats, bingo cards, craft supplies, etc.) to the girl...

YW Camp Update

Dearest YCLs, I am sad to say that we are officially NOT having Young Women's camp this year. As we all know, things are crazy in the world right now, and I am sad (but not really surprised) that the First Presidency has cancelled all camps for the time being. We will NOT be having any planning meetings until further notice. With that said, there is a possibility of some kind of activity towards the end of the summer, depending on what happens in Maryland and the rest of the world. If you have ideas of things we can do virtually please share them in this Google Doc . I love you guys and hope you are doing well and staying safe at home! YCL Zoom Meeting Follow Up

YCLs, Thank you to everyone who made it to our Zoom YCL meeting on Saturday! I know that things are crazy right now, and planning is going to be different than we originally thought. We appreciate your efforts and your willingness to be flexible! For those who missed the meeting, here is a brief overview of what we discussed. We started by hearing from the Stake YW Presidency: Sister Morgan talked to us about the theme of "STRIVE to be..." and all of the things that we strive to be. We pondered things that we strive for as ideas for daily themes. If you have ideas for this, please let us know! This is a great opportunity for you to really look at what we want the girls to get out of camp. What is our main purpose for camp? What do we want to encourage them to strive for? Please take the opportunity to pray about this and then listen for inspiration of what Heavenly Father wants you to strive to be, and what he wants the other YW to strive to be. As you get inspira...

Camp Theme

Image
Good Afternoon! I wanted to touch base with you about the theme for this years girls camp. I have really thought a lot about the theme and the goal for camp.  As we have mentioned in the YCL contract our focus is on being ALL IN!  As I reread the words from  Terance M. Vinson these words stuck out loud and clear There is no treasure, nor any hobby, nor any status, nor any social media, nor any video games, nor any sport, nor any association with a celebrity, nor anything on earth that is more precious than eternal life. So the Lord’s counsel to every person is “consider your ways.” So what are we doing?  Have we considered our ways?  This led me to think about how we commit and how we show we are committed to the gospel of Jesus Christ.  Reading an article in the New Era by Elder Cook "Strive to Become More Like Our Savior" the word STRIVE jumped off the page at me.  I know that sounds dramatic but it was an amazing exp...

Upcoming Digital Meeting Information

YCLs, I know the last few weeks have been crazy, and have disrupted all of our lives. Even if we can't get back to a completely regular schedule, we need to keep moving forward in our plans for camp. With this in mind, we are going to be having a digital YW Camp planning meeting on April 11 at 10 am via Zoom. You will need to have Zoom downloaded before then to join the meeting. Please plan on being there. I look forward to seeing all of your faces! Sister Presley Montgomery Village Ward is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting. YW Camp Meeting Updates

Hello Girls! We are in a unique time in history, and that poses some particular challenges to our planning of camp. To align with the requirements of social distancing, we will NOT be meeting this Saturday as was originally planned. However, that does not mean that all plans for camp have halted. Here are the things you should still be doing to help our camp plans move forward: Prepare spiritually! The YW Camp Guide says "As a leader, you can receive inspiration as you pray, study the scriptures, and fast while keeping the young women in mind. Consider attending the temple, where possible. Your spiritual preparation will guide your efforts as you plan and prepare for camp."  Since we can't really go anywhere else right now, you probably have extra time. Use that time to prepare spiritually for camp! Take some extra time to read your scriptures, ponder, pray for the girls in your ward, pray for inspiration. President Nelson has been emphasizing the need for perso...

If you have a conflict, please let me know before Saturday.  Things to bring to the meeting: Ideas for implementing the theme. Find opportunities to listen to or read a few of them! And then prayerfully think of fun ways to implement the idea of  Commitment ! Ideas for skills classes. What kinds of things would you like to learn at camp? Lets bring lots of ideas so our committee can have plenty to choose from! Here is a  link with some ideas .  Read the  Camp Guide!  And bring your copy of it with you to the meeting. This really is such a great resource to help us plan. You...
