YCL Zoom Meeting Follow Up

YCLs,

Thank you to everyone who made it to our Zoom YCL meeting on Saturday! I know that things are crazy right now, and planning is going to be different than we originally thought. We appreciate your efforts and your willingness to be flexible! For those who missed the meeting, here is a brief overview of what we discussed.

We started by hearing from the Stake YW Presidency:

Sister Morgan talked to us about the theme of "STRIVE to be..." and all of the things that we strive to be. We pondered things that we strive for as ideas for daily themes. If you have ideas for this, please let us know! This is a great opportunity for you to really look at what we want the girls to get out of camp. What is our main purpose for camp? What do we want to encourage them to strive for? Please take the opportunity to pray about this and then listen for inspiration of what Heavenly Father wants you to strive to be, and what he wants the other YW to strive to be. As you get inspiration on this, please share with the rest of us!

Sister Smith talked to us about Communication. In this discussion, she talked about all of the different ways that we communicate. We use words, body language, facial expressions and more to communicate with each other. One thing that we strive to do is to communicate in a Christlike way, and in that effort, we strive to have our hearts changed. In your preparations for camp, strive to listen to the spirit, pray for people that you maybe have a hard time getting along with, and pray to have your heart softened.

Sister Boyce talked about how we as leaders are really serving the girls that we lead. She also talked about how our attitudes shape the experience that we and others have at camp. Having a good attitude is huge to making camp a positive experience for everyone!

After this we had short check ins from each of the committees. If you haven't heard from your committee, or don't know what committee you are on please let me know ASAP! Plans are moving forward, and we want you to take part in those plans! 

If you haven't contributed much to your committee yet, please do so! We want camp to be planned by you YCLs as much as possible, and that can only happen if you become engaged in this digital planning that we are having to do right now. Be responsive with emails and texts. It is better to over-share ideas than to hold back.

I love you all and am excited at how camp is shaping up.

 YCLs and Adult Leaders, I need to practice a few things on Zoom before camp starts next week, so I am having an open zoom meeting Monday morning at 10am. If you have any questions about camp or want clarification of what will happen, (or want to practice anything for your classes YCLs), this is a great chance to come ask questions! This will be very informal, but any of you are welcome to come stop in to ask questions or just say "hi" or even just be a body so I can test out what I'm doing before we go live! YW Camp Update

Dearest YCLs, I am sad to say that we are officially NOT having Young Women's camp this year. As we all know, things are crazy in the world right now, and I am sad (but not really surprised) that the First Presidency has cancelled all camps for the time being. We will NOT be having any planning meetings until further notice. With that said, there is a possibility of some kind of activity towards the end of the summer, depending on what happens in Maryland and the rest of the world. If you have ideas of things we can do virtually please share them in this Google Doc . I love you guys and hope you are doing well and staying safe at home!
