April YCL Meeting Notes & Homework

 Hello YCLs!


Thank you for coming to our meeting! You did such a fantastic job planning CAMP KICK OFF! We have a few planning details to complete so please take this week to fill out the google forms by May 2 so we can start prepping!


HOMEWORK
Please participate in our YCL meetings or on these forms to have your ideas included. We want to hear from every YCL! Loose quote--"Revelation is scattered among us" :)

1. Fill out the following forms:
  • ATTENDANCE: This is a requirement for all YCLs every month. If you are unable to attend the meetings, you still get credit for "attending" by letting me know what you are doing to help with our planning! Anyone who is not participating in the planning, will not be allowed to come to camp as a YCL (though they will still be welcome to come as a camper!)
  • TEACH: YCLs will be teaching rotations in groups or pairs etc. What are you interested in teaching?
  • COOKIE DECORATING & Get to know you games: What decorating items do you want for the cookies? What type of cookie? Decorating Theme? List your get to know you games and what supplies you need. 
  • LESSON: Simplify Your Life- What topic would you like discussed?
  • BEADS: idea: Cookie bead for kick off. What do you want the bead to look like for camp kick off? Sibling bead idea?
  • CAMP SONGS: What songs do you want to add or take away from the book SONGBOOK:? It's a good idea to have copies of songs to teach available at kick off. What camp songs do you want to have taught at camp kick off?
  • SERVICE PROJECT: What is your idea for a Service Project while at camp? 

CAMP KICK OFF 
Date: Saturday May 21, 2022

Location: Stake Center 

Whole Group Welcome-Show slide show of camp location, expectations for campers, etc

Rotations:  
  1. Cookie decorating and get to know you games- eg. decorating with your favorite animal, outside running game(call categories and they run like a color or number of siblings, etc), bingo with prizes, create art with a get to know you game...Put different items on if u have certain characteristics or attributes that are called out. Spark further questions. *tip-cookie decorating outside could help facilitate a running game.
  2. Song book and Fake Camp Fire-Teach the young women camp songs, maybe smores brownies and hotdogs. Fake fire-use a fan and colored cellophane so make fire glow
  3. Simplify Your Life-Discussion
  4. Bead making-Uniform Camp Kick off bead--campers take home from camp- NOT KICK OFF
Misc:
  1. Name tags for Camp Leaders and YCLs
  2. Have Spontaneous camp song singing during kick off

SONGBOOK
Include: schedule, rules/expectations, daily themes, scriptures and quotes
Hand out at camp

CAMP BEADS
Continue beads this year. YCLs will make a sibling bead at a PREP DAY. Talk with you fellow YCLs and figure out a day and time that works for you to get together and make beads.

AT CAMP

Use colored Bandanas for each group. Numbers will be finalized after registration has closed


LOOKING AHEAD
  • Continue working in your committees---that work in ongoing.
  • NEXT YCL MEETING: May 21 @ 9 am & 10:30 am Camp Kickoff (Stake Center)
  • June 11 @ 9 am (Stake Center)
  • We will also have something the week before camp - date and time TBD
  • June 27-July 1 - Camp! (YCLs come up on the 27th in the afternoon, other girls will come up on the 28th in the morning)


*****Please keep in mind, if you do not attend our YCL meetings, participate in your committee or share ideas on these forms, you will not be coming to camp as a YCL but we'd love to have you as a camper.

 YCLs and Adult Leaders, I need to practice a few things on Zoom before camp starts next week, so I am having an open zoom meeting Monday morning at 10am. If you have any questions about camp or want clarification of what will happen, (or want to practice anything for your classes YCLs), this is a great chance to come ask questions! This will be very informal, but any of you are welcome to come stop in to ask questions or just say "hi" or even just be a body so I can test out what I'm doing before we go live! YW Camp Update

Dearest YCLs, I am sad to say that we are officially NOT having Young Women's camp this year. As we all know, things are crazy in the world right now, and I am sad (but not really surprised) that the First Presidency has cancelled all camps for the time being. We will NOT be having any planning meetings until further notice. With that said, there is a possibility of some kind of activity towards the end of the summer, depending on what happens in Maryland and the rest of the world. If you have ideas of things we can do virtually please share them in this Google Doc . I love you guys and hope you are doing well and staying safe at home!
